The Hi-Link HLK-LD2412 24GHz Human Presence Radar Sensor Module is a high-performance millimeter-wave radar sensor designed for precise human presence detection. Using advanced FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar technology, the module can accurately detect moving, stationary, and micro-moving human targets while minimizing environmental interference and false detections.
Unlike traditional PIR sensors that only detect motion, the HLK-LD2412 can identify human occupancy even when a person remains still, making it ideal for modern smart home and building automation systems.

From the user manual and forum / user reports, these are the behaviors and parameters you can adjust or need to be aware of:
  • Maximum distance / minimum distance: You can set these in “distance gates”. Each gate is 0.75 m. So if you set max = 2 gates, that means ~1.5 m, etc.
  • Sensitivity: From 0‑100. The module measures some “energy” from target; if it’s above the sensitivity threshold, it counts as presence.
  • Unmanned delay time: The delay after no presence before module reports “no human” or signals the absence. Configurable via serial protocol.
  • Output modes:
  • GPIO “OUT” pin for simple presence / non‑presence signal.
  • UART output gives richer data, including maybe distance auxiliary info etc.
