<p>The M48T08/18/08Y TIMEKEEPER® RAM is an 8 K x 8 non-volatile static RAM and real-time clock that is pin and function compatible with the DS1643.</p>
<p>This monolithic chip is offered in two specialized packages, delivering a highly integrated solution for battery-backed memory and real-time clock functionality.</p>
<p>The M48T08/18/08Y serves as a non-volatile equivalent in pin and function to any JEDEC standard 8 K x 8 SRAM.</p>
<p>It seamlessly fits into various ROM, EPROM, and EEPROM sockets, offering the non-volatility of PROMs without necessitating special WRITE timing or imposing limitations on the number of WRITEs that can be executed.</p>
<p>The 28-pin, 600 mil DIP CAPHAT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> encapsulates the M48T08/18/08Y silicon along with a quartz crystal and a long-lasting lithium button cell within a single package.</p>
<p>The 28-pin, 330 mil SOIC features sockets with gold-plated contacts at both ends, allowing for direct connection to a separate SNAPHAT® housing that contains the battery and crystal.</p>
<p>This innovative design permits the SNAPHAT® battery package to be mounted atop the SOIC package following the completion of the surface mount process.</p>
<p>Inserting the SNAPHAT® housing after reflow mitigates the risk of potential damage to the battery and crystal due to the elevated temperatures required for surface-mounting the device.</p>
<p>The SNAPHAT® housing is designed with a key to prevent reverse insertion.</p>
<p>The SOIC and battery/crystal packages are supplied separately in plastic anti-static tubes or in tape &amp; reel format.</p>
<p>For the 28-lead SOIC, the part number for the battery/crystal package (e.g., SNAPHAT®) is “M4T28-BR12SH” or “M4T32-BR12SH.”</p>

<p>The DS1220Y 16k Nonvolatile SRAM is a fully static, nonvolatile RAM with a capacity of 16,384 bits, organized into 2048 words of 8 bits each.</p>
<p>Each NV SRAM features a self-contained lithium energy source along with control circuitry that continuously monitors VCC for any out-of-tolerance conditions. In the event of such a condition, the lithium energy source is automatically activated, and write protection is unconditionally enabled to safeguard against data corruption.</p>
<p>This NV SRAM can directly replace existing 2k x 8 SRAMs that conform to the widely used bytewide 24-pin DIP standard. Additionally, the DS1220Y is compatible with the pinout of the 2716 EPROM or the 2816 EEPROM, facilitating direct substitution while improving performance.</p>
<p>There are no restrictions on the number of write cycles that can be performed, and no extra support circuitry is necessary for interfacing with microprocessors.</p>
