The TJA1050 serves as the interface between the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol controller and the physical bus. The device offers differential transmission capabilities to the bus and differential reception capabilities to the CAN controller. The TJA1050 is the third high-speed CAN transceiver developed by Philips, following the PCA82C250 and the PCA82C251.

• Significantly reduced electromagnetic emissions due to optimal signal matching of CANH and CANL
• Enhanced performance in the event of an unpowered node
• Absence of a standby mode.
